This work is the result of a six-year investigation into the events surrounding a birth marked by PP-PTSD (postpartum post-traumatic stress disorder), during which the gravity of medical interventions was obscured through sanitized communication and restricted access to information.
Layers of photographs, corporeal translations of objects, (non)memories, and understandings converge with medical research and the artist’s own medical files to create new archives that attempt to make sense of the experience.
Cette série est le résultat d’une enquête de six ans portant sur les événements entourant un accouchement marqué par un syndrome de stress post-traumatique post-partum, au cours duquel la gravité des interventions médicales a été obscurcie par une communication aseptisée et un accès restreint à l’information.
Des strates photographiques mettant en corps des objets, des (non)souvenirs et des compréhensions convergent avec des recherches médicales et les propres dossiers médicaux de l’artiste afin de créer de nouvelles archives qui tentent de donner sens à l’expérience.
